ANNUAL MEDAL DAY

Let me share a story from the good ol’ days.

You practiced and learned your routines all year and turned up on the Medal day…still not knowing who you were going to dance with!

Right up until your name was called and you got escorted onto the floor.

Because. Ballroom dancing.

You should be able to lead and follow ANYONE with ease. 

Now, we are spoiled. 🙂

Whilst we make every effort to try and keep you with your teacher or student-partner, life happens.

Please don’t get your knickers in a twist if we need to change who you are assigned to dance with on the day.

Whoever it is – they will know your routines and you should be able to dance with anyone.

It’s your responsibility to know your steps.

It’s not a right to have a claim to a teacher, even if you have Private Lessons, it’s a privilege to dance with any student or teacher.

Everyone below Silver needs to adhere to strict and standard dress codes [See below]  which can be discussed in the class and if you have questions just ask your teacher.

LEISURE – BRONZE STAR BALLROOM & NEW VOGUE:
Gent: Black trousers, white button dress shirt, black or solid color tie, and black vest.
Hair tidy, combed and groomed.
Appropriate dance shoes. [No ballet flats or jazz sneakers]

Lady: Skirt below knees, no trousers, blouse or leotard.
Hair neat and groomed.
Appropriate dance shoes. [No ballet flats or jazz sneakers]

LEISURE – BRONZE STAR LATIN:
Gent: Black trousers, a Black or white shirt, the tie is optional.
Hair tidy, combed and groomed. [Bring a spare shirt if you have sweat patches you’ll need to change your shirt]
Appropriate dance shoes. [No ballet flats or jazz sneakers]

Lady: Skirt that moves but not long [preferably above the knees], leotard or blouse. You can wear the same outfit for both styles if it works. 
Hair neat and groomed.
Appropriate dance shoes. [No ballet flats or jazz sneakers]

SILVER:

You can be either choice from above or below.

SILVER STAR & ABOVE:

Ballroom & New Vogue Gent: Tailsuit, bow-tie, white shirt, collar, cufflinks, ballroom shoes. Hair is neat, trimmed, and groomed.
Latin Gent: Latin trousers, Latin shirt, Latin shoes. Hair is neat, trimmed, and groomed.
Not necessary to be in Competition attire, however.

Ballroom & New Vogue Lady: high-quality Ballroom skirt and matching Ballroom top from a place like DSI-London or full Ballroom gown. Ballroom shoes.
Latin Lady: high-quality Latin skirt, matching Latin leotard/top from a place like DSI-London or full Latin American costume. Latin shoes.

We get there are memories being made here and it’s totally exciting to have yourself filmed but isn’t it better people actually watch you?

Due to Privacy concerns and quality control and minors being present Videography is strictly prohibited in any event, even for your own.

We encourage you to take photos with your awards, certificates, and friends at the end of the day.

DON’T WORRY! We have a solution that works out better for everyone.

YOU CAN ORDER YOUR EVENT IN HIGH-DEFINITION QUALITY IN A PRE-ORDER BEFORE THE DAY.

That way you can rest assured knowing you’re going to get usable, good quality footage that will last a lifetime.

It will also make the spectators not be bothered by the phones in their faces.

Keep an eye out for the details and pricing.

Absolutely! We would love for you to bring your friends, family, and supporters on the day.

Please make sure they know about the admission cost at the top of this website.

We don’t want any shocks for them, as it has been posted all year.

There will be change rooms but please do your best to get as prepared and ready at home so you can spend your time warming up and focusing on your dancing, not your hair and makeup…there I said it.

The run sheet will be posted to this page roughly 1-2 weeks prior to the main event. 

All events are subject to change, even on the day.

Presentations are held in one session at the end of the day.

You MUST be present to receive your award or it may go to another Candidate.

Heck yes!

We will have an after-event Dinner that only the Medal Candidates are permitted to come to.

Until we know the final numbers for the dinner partners can’t be included in this, save that for the Christmas Party.

There will be an RSVP list the week of Medals going around and on the day.
