Well, everyone’s primary goal should be to not look like a numpty in the middle of a vast floor with everyone staring at you…you know those awkward vacant looks with the sweat beading and trickling down your back…we want to avoid that. 

The good news? Through our time-tested method, we will absolutely craft both of you into the fine dance aficionado that is lying dormant within and for the world to see.

Most people take the Platinum or Diamond Package to get some nice, easy, comfortable choreography to the music they like.

Less than 3 lessons are totally fine but don’t expect anything too amazing [sometimes people come in with Dirty Dancing as an idea and you won’t get that done in 2 lessons, please respect the #Swayze RIP] as you need to give yourself time to integrate and rehearse what you learn.

What you need to consider is:

• Your style of wedding and your personalities. <<–YOUR PERSONALITY STYLE IS MORE OF A DECIDING FACTOR THAN YOUR SKILLS IN HOW WE CHOREOGRAPH
  • Wedding dances should ALWAYS make you look comfortable, it is not about us, it is only about you both. 
  • If you want a big, showy, Broadway-level Book of Mormom production with exploding balloons, homing pigeons being released – we can easily do that
  • However, most people want something that is easy to execute, smooth, and elegant, without it being a boring two-step.
  • The more extroverted the more lessons your probably going to need!
  • The more glamourous your wedding the better your dance should look
    [Note: Better NEVER means harder, difficult or tricky routines, it means smooth and polished]
• Your budget 
• How much time you have between your start date and your wedding date…we have had people call up a day before their wedding…don’t. be. that. person.
• How much actual practice you will do…There is a difference between the false hope one can give of “we’ll practice every day” and the reality of time pressure owing to that mother-in-law who won’t stop inviting everyone that you canceled [sorry was personal experience coming in here…] so don’t overcommit. Just do you.

Just so you know…when you buy a package you are 100% guaranteeing a teacher.

We get REALLY busy during peak Wedding season.

So although you don’t want to buy things too last minute [because we may not be able to take you.]

Try and plan it out a little bit, it will be a lot less stressful for you.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU BUY A PACKAGE?

A good rule: double the amount of time on the number of lessons you’re going to have.

5 wedding lessons x 2 = 10. Buy your package 10 weeks out.

We wouldn’t advise you to buy further out than 6-12 months. 

As we have seen a lot can change in that period.

Good example:

• Johnny’s eyes are locked on The Wedding which is on December 1.
• BUY: Anytime between August-October 1. [Earlier is ok too.]
• Diamond Package [5 Lessons] is bought [Brownie points earned with a “bonus” for early action taking.]
• Lessons are planned to be week to week + allowing for further polishing lessons just in case.

Bad example:

• Johnny has known the Wedding is Dec 1 for about a year now.
• He even found this sparkly, shiny, fancy-pants site about 6-months out and even knew what package they were going to get! [Brownie points could start accruing.]
• Sadly, days turn into weeks and weeks into months and no dancing has been booked.
• Suddenly we get an urgent, panicked holy-shi* FB message that the wedding is in two days and they just need something slapped together.
• Johnny is likely going to be a statistic. 
• We can and have made that work but it’s ill-advised due to added stress on you that could easily be avoided with a wee bit of action-planning as in the above Good Example.

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD YOU BOOK YOUR FIRST LESSON?

So buying a package is done in advance [HIGH-FIVE YOU!] that is what get’s you a teacher.

BUT your first lesson booking only needs to be booked in 1 [maybe 2]-weeks prior to starting.

You don’t need to book your first lesson 3 months in advance. 

Reach out to us and we will send you the booking calendar 1-week before you want to begin.

Using the GOOD example above:

• The wedding is on December 1.
• Diamond Package [5 Lessons] is bought.
• Lessons should be week to week + allowing for further polishing lessons just in case.
• BUY: Anytime between August-October 10. 
• BOOK: 1st lesson to start October 17. [Appox 7-weeks out.]

It’s as easy as 5, 6, 7, 8…except its actually just 3 steps, and it goes a lil’ something like this:

1. CONNECT: Reach out to us via Facebook Messenger [we suck with phones] and let us know:
   1. How many lessons you may want and what likely start date
   2. The date of your Wedding
2. CONFIRM & BUY: Once you’ve messaged us we will respond to you. Once we can take you, you need to buy your package ASAP to be able to secure Step 3.
3. BOOK: Yay! Now you can book your first lesson! Once we see you’ve bought your package we will send you the link with a clever calendar system that magically knows all of the teacher’s availability…shhh don’t tell them.

We recommend you just book your first lesson to get going in but you can book them all as well.

Your first lesson or package is always bought online to secure your spot.

After you’ve used your lessons but wish to continue or have more lessons, which you’re more than welcome to, you simply can pay cash at the START of your lesson.

We won’t take any first bookings without payment first.

Ahhh song choice!

So there was a time, probably, when your mum and dad locked eyes across the fondue at one of those “back in my day dinner parties”, dropped the cheese, and immediately cut a rug to “At Last” by Etta James.

Forever etching the memory deep within and ever since that song plays…it was the one. 

These days it would be hard to imagine Lil’ John’s “from the Windows to the Walls” having the same effect but hey – we have choreographed to weirder songs!

It’s all about preference rather than a moment.

HERE ARE TWO CHOICES TO MAKE IT EASIER:

1. Bring the song you already know and love
2. Bring a list of 3-5 and we will help you choose [Please ensure you have bought a Platinum and above package for this]

Please note that sometimes we may make a recommendation to change your song due to factors like musicality, tempo, amount of lessons versus what is possible for the song.

We will always do our best to work with a song you must have but we will also let you know what it takes to make things work.

The main thing with a song is…the ability to dance to it but we can help you with that!

You can wear any clothes you like but here are some ideas to help:

LADY:

Wear your wedding shoes and bring a pair of socks to put over the top of them so they don’t get damaged. If you can’t or don’t want to wear them then make sure you wear something close to what they are like.

Wear comfortable clothing.

GENT:

Wear your wedding shoes.

Avoid sneakers, shorts, and gym wear. 

WHAT IS OUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

Pretty militant.

We have to be as our teachers work on a strict hamster wheel for us. 

Just kidding.

But they are busy professionals with dedicated time slots and if you simply don’t turn up because of work, traffic, poor time management, etc you’re effectively wasting their time, your time, and taking that spot away from someone else…not cool.

So, please give us 24-hours notice for any changes, or the lesson is forfeited. 

We hope you understand but we value commitment to the process to get you to where you want to be when all is said and done.
